Whilst the men's turf missed Saturday courtesy of October rain (what's new?), some games were played Sunday and the Women's competition made the most of the glorious sunshine as it kicked off its season at Caulfield Park. With new teams entering CSBW this year the first two weeks are full of back to back Ten 10 double headers to get everyone in the swing of the competition, and it started in style.New teams in Carnegie and Cluden took to the field for the first time and Aspendale, Bentleigh, East Malvern Tooronga, Parkdale and Richmond City returned. To look across four grounds at Caulfield Park, with Women's cricket being played, when none existed in CSB this time last year, was terrific to see, and is certainly adding a new dimension to CSB and to all of the clubs involved. To see those teams well supported by club members is extremely encouraging and we are all sure that CSB has started a competition that will continue to grow. With Carnegie and Cluden being highlights for playing their first Women's team games, it was the Bentleigh team with the biggest cheer of the day when they won their first ever game in a last ball victory over Cluden. A celebration worthy of a World Cup victory. Its back to Caulfield Park this Sunday for all the Women's teams for another double header T10 round and with fingers crossed the blokes are out on Saturday and Sunday on turf. Results for Sunday's games - Men's and Women's can be found by clicking on the links below.
