Bring on Summer
Date of Event : Thu Nov 29, 2018 8:43AM

At Cricket Southern Bayside it's cricket your way (indoor, outdoor, male, female), and we are working on some beach cricket - a Master Blasters session over the school holidays (how could we not!). You could be forgiven for thinking that the picture above is from last weekends round and even the international matches so far this summer have coped it with the weather.

Whilst Saturday and a lot of Sunday's matches missed out, the Women's matches were played and the U21's got away.

In the Women's Division 1 matches Parkdale defeated Carnegie (J Johnson 3/7); Richmond City (L Castleden 31*; J Cooper 3/3) defeated by Omega, and in Division 2, Aspendale (C Arbuthnot 3/8) defeated by East Malvern Tooronga and Bentleigh Cricket Club defeated Cluden (M Jansz 3/12).

The U21's took on the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association at Boss James Reserve with Captain Cam Watts electing to bat after winning the toss. South's Elliot Bradley (48) and Beaumaris' Sam Hutcheon (30) had the team off to a great start before the loss of Hutcheon with the score at 80. Tied down by the MPCA slow bowlers, loosing 7/44 before some hitting from Mentone's Cam Duffy and Hampton's Tom Marron saw the side to 9/163(cc).

After a couple of wayward early overs Marron and Bonbeach's Tim Mulholland (1/22) found some line as Marron picked up two early wickets (2/22), Cam Watts picking up 3/35 as the MPCA recovered from 4/48 to push for victory but fell short finishing at 9/154(cc), a hard fought win to CSB.

The team backs up this Sunday (2nd December from 10am) at Beaumaris to take on the Eastern Cricket Association who defeated the VTCA in their first round match.
