T20 a blast... even in the wet!
Date of Event : Tue Dec 18, 2018 4:12PM

The first of the T20 double-header weekend's kicked off on Saturday despite Melbourne's bipolar weather. The weekend's action saw a few nail-biters as well as the Top 3 pulling away from the pack in the Championship Division.

South Caulfield played host to Hampton and were set 108 for victory despite Harry Allen's (50*) effort to set a total for the Seahorses. In reply, South secured a bonus point as they chased down victory with 4 overs to spare. Brad Erasmus (55) and Tom Marron (4/26)were the pick of the performers in the 2nd innings.

Bentleigh set Bonbeach 126 for victory on the back of a partnership between RobCiccarella (43) & Coenie Nel (40). However,Shanuka Dulaj (60) continued his fine run of form to see the Sharks get home in the 16th over.

Beaumaris and Carnegie moved their match to Lords Reserve. Neggie skipper Vinay Tripathi (41*) helped set up his side's challenging total of 7/127cc.In a contest that ebbed and flowed, Neil Minto (38*) was the hero for Beaumaris as he dragged his side to victory off the last ball of the match.

Unfortunately, mother nature claimed the scalp of McKinnon and Parkdale as their match was abandoned due to a severely wet and soft wicket.

In Division 1, Brad Kruger (95*) continued histormenting of Middle Park, and was aptly supported by Srimantha Wijeyeratne (80) as the Beena posted 3/221. Middle Park were never really in the chase as theywere restricted to 6/109 from 14 overs when rained ended play.

Mentone 7/150cc (Matt Williams 50*) accounted for Aspendale 6/64, Bayside pulled a rabbit out of the hat to defend their 7/93cc against Old Mentonians 6/54 and Brighton District(6/108cc) continued their winning ways as they restricted Chelsea to 7/85 to win by 15 runs on Duckworth/Lewis.
