PCFA continues as CSB Charity partner
Date of Event Cricket Southern Bayside: Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:56AM

Cricket Southern Bayside (CSB) is delighted to announce the continuation of its relationship with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) as its charity partner for CSB’s Men’s turf cricket program.

In support of the PCFA, CSB is:

  • naming its Masters Competition as the PCFA Masters.
  • the PCFA Masters Grand Final to become a Blue Stumps Day, with CSB working with the host club to raise further funds on the day for the foundation
  • making a donation on behalf of all member clubs to the PCFA
  • spreading the PCFA message via our GameFace CSB Cricket Show on Facebook
  • with further activities to be advised

The partnership with PCFA is an appropriate fit for the CSB men’s competition and will assist in delivering the message about the importance of prostate and health checks.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with approximately 20,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.  Five-year survival rates have increased to 95% which is great news.  But tragically we still lose 3,500 men to prostate cancer every year.  Early detection is vital to get these figures down.

PCFA CEO, Professor Jeff Dunn AO, thanked CSB for their support.

“We are tremendously honoured to be selected once again as the Official Charity of the CSB’s Men’s turf cricket program.

“It’s a win for cricket lovers, a win for the community, and a win for every man affected by prostate cancer.

“All donations will go towards life-saving research, awareness, and support – our aim is to bat a strong innings in the battle against prostate cancer,” he said.

CSB is proud to support the PCFA in raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer in particular to provide expert advice from specialist nurses to support those at a time when they need it most.
